What is a Big Sit?
Big Sits are counting events with the aim of finding as many species of bird as possible while staying within a defined circle. This event is for all ages and birdwatching levels. There will be birding experts onsite to guide your experience. Our Big Sit circle will be located within the Rouge National Urban Park at the Rouge Beach and Marsh (195 Rouge Hills Dr, Scarborough, ON). Chairs and binoculars will be provided, as will clipboards and checklists.
This accessible park is perfect for people who use wheelchairs, walkers, canes, scooters or for folks with grumpy joints! We will visit one of Toronto’s vibrant green spaces in search of the millions of migrating birds crossing over the city.
Participants are encouraged to use the Merlin ID and eBird apps during this event, clipboards and counting lists will also be available.
