The Galbatrosses are a group of scientists, birders, writers, and conservationists who are connected through the National Audubon Society. They are focused on raising the profile of female birds, which have been historically under-studied, under-estimated and under-valued.
This presentation will discuss the creation of Female Bird Day (May 29th & 30th), why female birds are important, how we can change our birding and research practices.
Speakers:
Joanna Wu – PhD student in the UCLA Department of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology
Stephanie Beilke – Conservation Scientist with Audubon Great Lakes in the Chicago Area
This event is presented by Feminist Bird Club – Toronto Chapter.
