Join us at the Spring Bird Festival to learn about the amazing phenomenon of migration and the importance of bird conservation. Located on the Leslie Street Spit, Tommy Thompson Park (TTP) is Toronto’s prime birding hotspot. There is no better place to experience the city’s migratory birds as they head north after spending the winter in warmer climates – 323 species have been recorded to date! A variety of activities will be offered for people of all ages and all birding abilities.
- Many and varied bird walks: Baselands Bird Walk, TTP Bird Walk, Beginners Bird Walk, Family Bird Walk, Cell 1 Bird Walk, Colonial Waterbird Walk.
- We usually have at least two bird (conservation/ID) workshops.
- Children’s games and bird conservation-related activities: cormorant life stages, invasive vs. native tic-tac-toe, bird anatomy puzzle, bird checklist, what’s your wingspan, bird-related crafts, TTP scavenger hunt.
- TTP Bird Research Station (TTPBRS) is open in the morning.
