Celebirdies Every Day

Celebirdy-spotting is one of the biggest perks of living in Toronto. During May, stylish, elusive, elegant, rowdy, and glamorous celebirdies flock to the city to dine, nest, and enjoy. From the Danforth to James Gardens, celebirdies – like the Rose-breasted Grosbeak, Ruby-throated Hummingbird, Belted Kingfisher, Great Blue Heron, and Indigo Bunting – are spotted every day close to your home. Can you find one? Tell us about your bird sighting on social media for your chance to win prizes from Fjällräven and Firefly Books.

How to participate?

  1. Please read the official contest rules bellow.
  2. Follow #TOBirdParty and Birds Canada on Instagram (@birds.canada) and Twitter (@birdscanada).
  3. Look for and find celebirdies in the GTA – in your neighbourhood, yard, or garden – from the 4th of May to the 31st of May.
  4. Enjoy watching your bird superstar.
  5. Send us a tweet or leave a comment mentioning which bird you found and where, using the #TOBirdParty hashtag and tagging Birds Canada, Fjällräven and Firefly Books (Info on the rules).

Birds Every day

Would you like to know which birds are people finding around where you live? How cool would that be! There is a way… every day, people report sightings of the most common and the rarest birds around them. You can join the community to celebrate the birds with whom we share our neighbourhoods and parks throughout the Greater Toronto Area. Find the live list here. It’s live!

During the celebration, we are tracking bird sightings across the GTA. Join the community by adding your own bird sightings to eBird Canada and click the image below to explore local hot spots during the Toronto Bird Celebration.

About eBird Canada

eBird Canada is a real-time, online checklist program, that has revolutionized the way that the birding community reports and accesses information about birds. eBird provides rich data sources for basic information on bird abundance and distribution at a variety of spatial and temporal scales.
